It’s been a few years since we’ve celebrated Independence Day in Kanab—our favorite place to spend July 4th, so we made a quick trip and had a fabulous time!
There’s a certain charm of a small-town parade where everyone reserves their spot the night before by leaving chairs and blankets on the street’s edge and anyone can participate in a number of creative ways. I love that everyone turns out dressed in red, white, and blue!
We spent a fair amount of time at the park, checking out all the vendors, watching children play, and visiting with townsfolk. We especially delighted in seeing how the park we helped build is being enjoyed by so many!
Even though we saw my sister Leslie and some of her family and my dad and his wife, most of our holiday was spent with Sage and her family and my sister Vonna and hers.
The evening celebration at the park—listening to entertainment while camped out on the grass, waiting for the sun to go down and fireworks against the backdrop of the beautiful red cliffs with the American flag waving in the slight breeze—completed our fabulous fourth!
